Hydrostor is a long-duration energy storage solution provider. The transition to 100 per cent renewable resources cannot happen without long-duration energy storage. By enabling energy to be stored for long periods of time, Hydrostor is accelerating the integration of renewable generation into the grid and reducing the reliance on fossil generation. Long-duration energy storage ‘weather proofs' the grid and ensures consumers receive reliable power from renewable sources, even when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. Hydrostor's patented Advanced-Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) solution works by converting excess grid energy into compressed air. This compressed air is then funnelled into underground caverns displacing water to create storage capacity. This compressed air can then be used whenever electricity is needed. Hydrostor develops long duration energy storage systems worldwide, and already has a pipeline of projects for providing capacity of over 200 MW and for six or more hours. Hydrostor has a commercial facility operating in Goderich, Ontario, which is the first energy storage project to provide Operating Reserves in Ontario.
