The Social Enterprise Village supports a national network of start-up communities dedicated to advancing the success of South African youth social enterprise start-ups. Tirelessly working together with entrepreneurial leaders, investors, government, NGOs, mentors and business executives (Start-up Champions), we strengthen local communities and help start-ups to grow. Through the Village Friday monthly initiative, for example the Social enterprise Village offers a unique opportunity to learn about the diverse range of entrepreneurial activities and social activism taking place today directly from those who are leading these changes. Participants engage and exchange ideas with business experts, mentors and other young professionals. Overall, these efforts serve the three key strategic goals:− Increase the number of start-ups and successful social enterprises that are creating economic growth, innovation, common good, and quality jobs;− Celebrate, reward and honour entrepreneurship, and reinforce entrepreneurship as a core South African value and source of competitive advantage; and− Broaden the circle of opportunity, so that more South African communities, especially rural communities participate in our emerging "innovative nation." We believe each person possesses the potential to change his/her community for the better – directly by tackling social problems and indirectly by supporting others' ideas. When we embrace and promote this belief, a new global system will emerge.
