Having already existed in 2004, the Acquisition Committee was recreated in 2013 and is responsible for gathering funds from external parties for the UCSA. But what does that mean? Basically, in 2013 the UCSA suffered from a budget deficit and to avoid future cuts in our committees' and teams' budgets, it needed new money inflows. Many student associations around the world have already established various partnerships with companies, organisations, the government, and local municipality to allow the financing of student activities. Therefore, it is now our turn to approach businesses and organisations to fund the UCSA. Next to gathering funds from external parties, the other main objective of the Acquisition Committee is to start partnerships which are valuable for UCU students, thereby adding value to campus and more broadly, the UCU-education.Any collaboration with a partner is based on the principle the both should benefit from the partnership, while providing as much freedom as possible to our valued partners in defining the specifics of our collaboration. Our most important asset is a vibrant community of academically excellent and sociable students, coming from a wide variety of (international) backgrounds. Our partners are interested in UCU students as potential future employees or as customers. Therefore, partnerships can take two forms: recruitment events and promotional efforts. In exchange, the UCSA receives a sponsorship allowing it to support and realise even more initiatives of its students. Examples of collaborations are the creation and distribution of flyers or posters, and the organisation of workshops and in-house days. We have done promotion for e.g. Bol.com, but also many SME's in Utrecht. Besides that, we have hosted workshops with many international firms, such as the Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey & Company, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and Unilever.
