The Salvation Army has been working with individuals involved in the justice system in Ontario for many decades. The Correctional & Justice Services department of The Salvation Army delivers a variety of programs and services for youth and adults who have come into conflict with the law.Community Service Order ProgramThe Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services believes that all people are capable of positive change. We partner with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) to facilitate client completion of Community Service Order (CSO).The case manager meets individually with clients in their Probation Officer's office or at 77 River Street Toronto to assess suitability for community supervision and obtain an appropriate placement for the client. Client skills, interests and dignity are considered carefully when securing a community placement. Case managers monitor the client's participation in the program by monthly updates from the placement and contact with the client. Throughout the process, case managers have regular contact with the probation and parole officer to provide support to the client, both emotionally and spiritually. Please note that we can only supervise those who are ordered by the courts through a probation order to complete community service hours.Electronic Supervision ProgramThe Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services believes that all people are capable of positive change. We partner with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) to facilitate the Electronic Supervision Program throughout the province of Ontario. The goal is to meet clients in their home and offer them an alternative to incarceration by providing electronic monitoring. This allows clients to care for their children, attend work or school, or tend to ailing family members. This further permits clients to live with dignity, and carry on their community obligations, rather than remain incarcerated. Probation IntakeThe Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services believes that all people are capable of positive change. We partner with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) to facilitate Probation Intake at the Brampton Courthouse. The goal is to assist the Court Liaison Officer by reading probation, conditional sentence and parole orders to clients. The intake worker then directs clients to report to their local probation office to meet their probation officer.Additionally, we offer support to clients with the ultimate goal being that they feel our Christian love andconcern; and become once again a valuable member of society, free of stigma and bias.
