Founded in 1983, Durham University Charity Fashion Show (DUCFS) is an annual fundraising initiative orchestrated and designed by some of Durham University's brightest and most passionate students determined to use their privileged position to contribute to society. While the show itself takes place over multiple nights in February, the brand operates year-round, aiming to unite and celebrate the creative talent in Durham whilst raising awareness and funds for important causes. In order to do so, DUCFS is dependent on establishing relationships with brands and companies of all kinds, whose generous contributions sustain its opportunity to create fantastic events and raise life-changing sums of money for those in need. In recent years, DUCFS has seen exponential growth in size, professionalism, and charitable donations and is now the most successful of its kind in the United Kingdom, raising more money for charity than any of its competitors. With this growth comes an increase in prestige and reputation, which each generation of the DUCFS Executive Committee works tirelessly to uphold and build upon, hoping to find new ways to engage with their partners and audience alike. In 2020, £171,000 was raised for Stop the Traffik and Fashion Revolution. In 2019 £150,000 was raised for the Environmental Justice Foundation. In 2018, £106,000 was raised for MIND.In 2017, £75,000 was raised for The International Rescue Committee. In 2016, £27,000 was raised for Stop The Traffik. In 2015, £10,000 was raised for The Gap Project.DUCFS raises funds for charity through DUCK (Durham University Charities Kommittee), the fundraising arm of Durham Students' Union, which is a registered charity.
