5th Avenue Cinema is Oregon's only student run cinema has been operating non-profit since 1989. 5th Avenue Cinema's mission is to provide Portland State's student body with an array of film programming that will both entertain and educate. We want to provide a space for students that engages their desire for fun and stress relief, while also presenting them the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and cultural awareness through our consciously selected films. We strive to keep providing an affordable rental space for the student body and community to exhibit their own films and work. The general public is always invited to attend and there is FREE POPCORN at every show. Our feature films are presented on 35mm film, with the occasional screening on our rare Norelco 16mm projector, and now on our new DCP projector.We show a variety of art-house films, independent movies, foreign films, and cult films. We have a passion for film and try to promote cinema as an art form in the greater Portland community.
