Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte is proud to be the founding council of Girls on the Run International. Girls on the Run was founded in 1996 by Molly Barker with the help of thirteen girls at one school in Charlotte, NC. Today, Girls on the Run Greater Charlotte serves 4,000 girls each year at 200 program sites across Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, Catawba and Cabarrus counties. With the help of our generous sponsors and donors, we are able to provide financial assistance to over half of our girls—girls who otherwise might not be able to participate in out-of-school time enrichment.
