Elrhino Eco Industries are producers of artisanal luxury tree free paper. The paper is made from the dung of elephants and rhinos, as well as variety of other natural forest waste, and cotton. We work in Assam, in the North East of India, to bring capacity development and employment to people living around the reserve forest areas of Assam. These forests are home to Greater Indian One-Horned rhino, an endangered species that is being wiped out by poaching for its highly prized horn. At Elrhino, we work with local populations to provide them with alternative sources of livelihood as well as a sense of ownership that would allow them to be invested in these animals. We believe that this will reduce man-animal conflict, arm them with the resolve to resist commercial offers from visiting poachers, as well as contribute to preserving the reducing forest cover. Our mission is to carry our beautiful forests, its message and the spirit of its inhabitants to a wide global audience and to create a participatory and profitable model of conservation.
