The Cnocnafeola Committee ltd. formed in 1989 with the primary aim of developing the social, economic and tourist potential of Atticall Village, in the Heart of the Mournes. The site for this new development was the parish hall built by local people; know as the "ballroom of romance" in the 1950's and 1960's. The parish kindly agreed to give us a long term lease to develop the centre. The Cnocnafeola Centre "off the beaten track" in Atticall, operates as a Community business providing accommodation for visitors and employs around five local people. The Cnocnafeola Centre has recently picked up a Northern Ireland Tourist Board Award for Best Non-Serviced Accommodation. This is the centre's greatest accomplishment to date. The Cnocnafeola Centre has also received wonderful reviews in The Observer Magazine (October 2009)It has also had a visit from a new travel magazine, The Outsider for Oct/November 2009 and was highly recommended.Check out our independent reviews on TripAdvisor, HostelWorld, HostelBookers and our own website.Mairead White MBE (Director/Voluntary Manager)"Our unique selling point is that we tailor the requirements of our guests to the facilities within the centre. We try to give our guests a holistic experience of the Mournes integrating the local community, the local shop and local activities as part of the package."
