The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, was founded in the year 2004 in order to nurture and develop the fledgling MBA programme which had been started in August 2001. IIT Madras, however, celebrates the Golden Jubilee of its Management Education in 2014.Well-recognized for the rigor and pedigree of its academic programmes, the department has twenty-five full-time faculty members drawn from a variety of functional areas of management including Business Strategy, Finance, General Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing and Operations Management. Research, Consulting, Sponsored Research and Executive Development Programmes are among the multitude of activities which the faculty is engaged in.The flagship MBA programme at IIT Madras is a two year, full-time, residential program designed to offer the unique IIT advantage to students of business management. IIT Madras' strong network across business and industries, gives it the prerogative to equip the students with management principles, strategic modelling, actual practice, and immense industry exposure that caters to a complete learning curve.The student exchange programmes with foreign universities offered by DoMS, helps its students get a truly global outlook. Consultancy and Executive Development programmes are some of the other activities of the department.Over and above getting the students placed in the best of business, IIT Madras has an Entrepreneurship Cell, "C-TIDES", that is aligned towards developing entrepreneurial eco-system in the institute by providing innovators a platform to jump from 'design' to a 'product'.
