The Carmel Foundation is a 63-year old organization that serves area seniors 55 and older. It was formed in 1950 by a group of concerned citizens that cared for their older neighbors and wanted to ensure that their needs were cared for. This is still the Foundation's goal today. The Carmel Foundation offers comprehensive programming that includes over 60 classes and activities each week, on-site chef-prepared lunch, Computer Learning Center, cafe with free WiFi, homebound meal deliver, transportation, low-income housing for area seniors, Monterey Bay Village retirement model, friendly visitor program, support groups, information and referral service, and partnership with area senior service agencies.
