At Real World Scholars (a San Diego-based 501c3), we created Ed to allow teachers to infuse their classroom - no matter what the subject - with real world project-based learning through e-commerce. With Ed, our digital e-commerce platform, any class can build a website, sell products they make in class online, and explore real life challenges as they run their business. Whether it's an art gallery or a soap company, we believe that learning comes alive when students create products not destined for a competition or school showcase, but for the open market. Ed gives students a new opportunity to formulate ideas, analyze how they perform when tested in the real world, and refine them through informed reflection. We make it easy, allowing teachers to grow their business year after year, with each incoming class building on the previous year's success. Ed provides teachers with tools that they can use in their classroom, such as virtual mentors provided Nepris (www.Nepris.com), an interactive toolkit to help classes grow their business, and seed funding to make it work. We know not all students will be entrepreneurs, Ed helps to ignite their learning environment with creativity and innovation and develop the artistic and enterprising skills that they will need to succeed - no matter what's next.
