Firecracker Baseball was founded back in 2008 by Mark Cooke, former college baseball coach at Johnson and Wales University and Dean College. Coach Cooke's goal was to provide top amateur baseball in our region through the first ever Firecracker Baseball 4th of July Showcase. In 2008, the first tournament had 6 teams. With every year, our popularity has grown as it started with 6 teams in 2008, became 31 teams by 2011 and 2012 quickly. With continued interest from teams throughout New England, Mid-Atlantic and now the Midwest, Cooke and his staff expanded their reach even more. In 2015, we added our Labor Day Classic in Providence, RI for ages 18U and 15U. In 2017 we added another showcase tournament, this time in Westchester County NY called the Colonial Clash. In 2018, with the addition of the All American Lighthouse Classic in Old Orchard Beach, Maine; our goal is to provide the finest amateur baseball in travel destinations.Pool play is the format with all teams guaranteed to play at least 3 or 4 games and they take take place at area high school and collegiate fields with the playoffs and championship games at college facilities. Teams will be placed in pools with teams from different areas. We want these teams to play against teams from different areas, cities and play against different players then they are normally used to. First and second place teams receive team trophies, along with our Annual Firecracker Baseball Tournament MVP award for outstanding player in each division for the weekend.In addition to our tournaments, we provide a College Showcase Camp at each of our tournaments. The Camp gives the individual player the opportunity to work out in front of college coaches and have their various athletic measurements sent to our network of college coaches.
