Fascial Abrasion Technique and FAT-ToolThe Fascial Abrasion Technique and Tool was developed by Dr. Mark Scappaticci, DC, BSc(Hons), DAt FCCSS, CKTI Performance tissue mobilization involves releasing movement-restricting tension in soft tissue. Performance tissue mobilization uses a specialized, patented tool called the Fascial Abrasion Tool or FAT tool. Fascial mobilization using the FAT-Tool specifically targets and loosens the fascia that surrounds and interconnects muscle tissue that when tight, can restrict range of motion and impair quality of movement. The FAT-Tool has a unique design that allows a single tool to have multiple treatment edges and surfaces with a comfortable handle. The patented textured finish helps to decrease tissue sensitivity while allowing a better grip of surface tissue and deeper tissue mobilization. These attributes maximize the ability of the FAT-Tool to loosen areas of increased fascial tension and stimulate an environment of improved fluid dynamics, including improved blood flow and lymphatic circulation. This device can help with recovery after hard workouts and improve performance by optimizing soft tissue mobility and increasing range of motion. The FAT-Tool has been reported to help improve motor-firing patterns by optimizing soft tissue mechanics and stimulating specialized receptors within the skin and underlying fascia.
