SAMDA is a junior mining chamber. SAMDA grew out of a committee formed by a group of Junior and BEE companies who wished to make an input into the draft Green Paper on a new Mining and Minerals policy for South Africa (released in 2000).This committee wished to support the state as the custodian of the Nations' mineral resources as this would facilitate the entry of new players into the sector.Following on from the release of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act in 2002, SAMDA was officially launched as an organization.Since that date SAMDA has actively engaged with government and other stakeholders on behalf of its membership.
