Beautiful Spirited Women (BSW), a non-profit dedicated to empowering and advocating for girls. BSW provides young girls with a powerful platform to share their personal experiences with sex, drug abuse, domestic violence, low self-esteem, bullying, and depression. The organization seeks to equip these girls with important life skills to advance them in their schools and workplaces. BSW tackles difficult issues like poverty and teenage pregnancy by bringing in teenage mothers to talk to program participants and working with "Girl Preneurs", teenagers who hold dreams of one day owning their own businesses. Resulting directly from BSW's work in local communities, Memphis has seen a 17.1% decrease in poverty and a 50% decrease in teen pregnancies.Since its inception 11 years ago, BSW has spread to twelve different cities and states, regularly serving 5,000 - 25,000 constituents each year. BSW frequently hosts workshops, virtual workshops, seminars, luncheons, school visits, and empowerment workshops, in addition to caring for the elderly and homeless populations by distributing food and care packages.
