Dario Flaccovio and Marisa Dolcemascolo opened a bookshop in 1972, in a suburb still on the outskirts of Palermo, an area that today represents the new center of the city. In a short time they realized that the technical sector is in continuous development and full of infinite facets. They specialize in technical-scientific literature, although they do not exclude novels from the shelves, and count among their customers almost all the professionals of the sector in the city. In 1980, Dario decides to embody his greatest passion ever: publishing. The first book "Construction techniques and energy saving", written by the engineers Caleca and Cottone, demonstrates the publisher's attention to unexplored themes. This is how Dario Flaccovio Editore was born. The publishing house immediately stands out in the Italian publishing scene for the specificity of its production. After a few years, it bursts, creating a real IT utopia for the first time in Italy: professionals can buy software (at an affordable price) attached to a technical manual from the bookstore. The series is called "Basic Programs", it then becomes Book & Floppy, today it is CD Book and then Softwin again.
