Homeless Youth Connection was founded in 2010 to bring awareness about the plight of homeless teens and care for those who seek our assistance. It is the mission of Homeless Youth Connection to address the needs of these neglected and too often forgotten kids and put them on a path towards self-sufficiency. According to recent statistics, the United States will have 22 million homeless youths on the streets this year, and 1,800 of them are in the West Valley. They sleep in our parks, golf courses and on school grounds. The lucky ones will go from one friend's home to another, "couch surfing" until they graduate. HYC provides clothing, school supplies, hygiene products and food vouchers for students' immediate needs. Through continued case management, HYC also offers the following assistance to our students: job searches, resume development and interview skills, free medical care, applications for scholarships for college or vocational school and interviews with recruiters from our U.S. Armed Forces.
