Loving Spoonful is deeply committed to creating a healthy, food-secure community across Kingston, Ontario and area by facilitating fresh food access, skill development and community engagement. 1. FACILITATING FRESH FOOD ACCESS – Serving those experiencing hunger in Kingston, we manage the pick-up and delivery of fresh food donations from food businesses to over 40 social service agencies and 18 Fresh Food Market Stands through our Food Reclamation Programs. They include: Fresh Food Delivery, FoodRescue.ca, Meat Up, Grow-A-Row and Gleaning. Over $1,800,000 of fresh healthy produce has been delivered since we started in 2008. That's the equivalent of over 700,000 healthy meals!2. PROVIDING FOOD SKILLS DEVELOPMENT & FOOD EDUCATION – In Community Kitchens, we're teaching families, adults and teens in Community Kitchens about cooking easy, affordable, healthy food. We're also teaching 890 kids in classrooms and school gardens about good food, growing, collaboration and community through the GROW Project. 3. BUILDING COMMUNITY – Through collaborations with over 150 partners across the region, we're bringing good food programming and fresh food to all! The Kingston Community Gardens Network, for example, provides Kingston's 38 Community Gardens help with annual reporting, grants, discounts on mulch and compost, and with establishing new gardens. All of these programs also helps us to champion policies affecting food security, poverty, social inclusion, and community health. We are so grateful for the dedication of our 200+ volunteers who are at the heart of all our programs!
