CHP can be located at an individual facility or building, or be a district energy or utility resource. CHP is typically located at facilities where there is a need for both electricity and thermal energy. US EPA https://www.epa.gov/chp/what-chpLong valued as a means of improving energy efficiency and reducing costs, CHP is increasingly seen as a means of maintaining operations when utility power is interrupted, such as occurs in natural disasters. Funded by the US Department of Energy, Technical Assistance Partnerships (TAP) provide support for federal, institutional, and other large energy users considering implementation of CHP for their facilities.
