St. Stephen’s Community House (SSCH) is a unique, community-based social service agency that has been serving the needs of Kensington Market and other neighbourhoods in Toronto since 1962. With more than 100 staff and the support of over 400 volunteers, we provided services for more than 25,205 individuals who made 350,223 visits to our nine program locations in downtown-west Toronto and North York. We are dedicated to making our communities stronger, happier and healthier. We are an independent, non-denominational, incorporated charitable organization and a United Way member agency. Our mission is to work with individuals and communities in downtown west Toronto to identify, prevent and alleviate social and economic problems by creating and providing a range of effective and innovative programs. For over 50 years, our programs work with the most vulnerable people in our city: youth at-risk, homeless men and women, newcomers to Canada, low-income families with young children, people and organizations in conflict, immigrant seniors, unemployed youth and adults, people at risk of, or living with, HIV/AIDS, and women who are 6 months pre- and post-natal.
