Founded in 1987 on the principle that all pregnant women deserve a loving home, New Generation is a five-bedroom shelter for pregnant and newly parenting women. The program promotes healthy births, safe parenting and children while empowering women with the skills they need to become independent.The mission of New Generation is to provide a safe, family-oriented shelter for homeless pregnant women and their babies, helping to prepare and empower them to be successful in life. Each woman receives case management, parenting education, life-skills training and transportation to partnering agencies, employment or schooling. Aftercare ensures that former residents receive the support needed to be successful.The women we serve enter the program with a commitment to change and gain the skills and determination needed to support themselves and their baby. They leave with the skills to manage their lives and become independent women and nurturing mothers.
