For the past 25 years, Mel Hioki has been an award-winning art director working with Charles Schulz for MetLife, Warner Bros., and Will Vinton Studios for KFC. He's created original characters for KFC International Kids Club and Luppy Natural Foods. Mel's first children's book on hunger awareness, The Other Side of The Pond is based on an outreach event Mel organized with his church.Living in a diverse nation, it's important for children to learn the value of diversity and inclusion. Mel learned these values among his friends at Peter Burnett Jr. High School in San Jose, CA. Many of his personal experiences led him to his second book, The Day Planet Rainbow Lost Its Color. The Bully, Bobeetle and The Magical Turning Table was created to plant the seed of an important message: treat others the way you want to be treated. In August 2019, Mel founded Hioki Creations, Inc., a children's non-profit organization that, through literature, engages and empowers children through stories with a sense of purpose–to foster kindness, compassion, and openness in the hearts and minds of children, who will give back to their communities to make the world a more accepting and loving place. He also created storyboards to continue the storybook sagas through animation. Stay tuned
