Jarrah House -a unique place for women and woman with their children (under 8), to overcome substance misuse and work towards a healthy future.The Jarrah House Program consists of medically supervised withdrawal management (detoxification) followed by a short term 10 week DBT rehabilitation program. The rehabilitation program is designed to address substance misuse and the effects of trauma simultaneously. The evidence based program also teaches women how to respect who they are and how to keep safe.Jarrah House provides discharge planning and a aftercare service. On leaving the centre, women participate in a discharge program to assist them to implement the changes begun during their stay. They are invited to return to Jarrah House for aftercare meetings with an alumnus group for continuing support of other ex-Jarrah House clients.Holistic CareJarrah House recognises that drug and alcohol dependence is not only a physical problem, but affects women's emotional and spiritual well-being. Programs are aimed at empowering women to make choices that are right for themselves, by providing ongoing support and the opportunity to develop a range of personal skills. The centre's high quality, holistic approach to health care has been recognised by the United Nations as setting a benchmark for the gender response treatment of substance abuse by women and their children.Caring for mothers and childrenJarrah House child care and parenting services are unique to cater for the complex needs of both the mother and her children. They are supported through a structured and child-centred learning environment. Jarrah House promotes the development of the whole child, including social, spiritual, physical and cognitive development. Child care support and age-specific activities are provided seven days a week by early childhood child care workers. School aged children attend school on a temporary basis.
