Rippling Birch Photography was founded by David and Meliss Haeckel. David is an avid photographer of wildlife and scenery, specializing in images taken in the Puget Sound and Salish Sea in the Pacific Northwest off the coast of Washington state. We continue to be amazed by all the magnificent creatures and wonderment Whidbey Island shares, where we are lucky enough to call home.We chose the name Rippling Birch Photography for 3 reasons: 1) Rippling represents water. David grew up in Hawaii and Meliss grew up in New England. The draw of the ocean brought us to the Puget Sound, from which we derive energy and joy, 2) Birch represents nature and our favorite tree which we have always had planted in any of our yards, and 3) it represents a Ripple Effect, which we like to think is symbolic of the positive impact, emotions and connection to all living things that our imagery shares.
