Lydia's House specializes in family-centered advocacy. We are a small, supportive shelter run in the style of a Catholic Worker House; we value community. Our shelter can house five families in crisis at a time. We value individualized case management and bend to the specific needs of our guests. Ultimately, we engage in the work of helping families acquire safe and affordable housing. However, our method of achieving this is non-traditional. Our staff lives in community with our families, knowing them on a deeper level than normal staff-client relationships. We eat together and share the work of maintaining the cleanliness of our main property. Along with that, we find ways to have fun and celebrate the large and small moments of life. Our year is marked with birthday parties, the ringing of bells, dancing, and anything else we can find to celebrate!
