NOSSCR is an association of more than 3,000 attorneys and other legal representatives who advocate for individuals seeking Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). NOSSCR's goal is to encourage and advance high quality representation for the disabled, to maintain a system of full and fair adjudication for every claimant, and to advocate for beneficial change in the disability determination and adjudication process. NOSSCR maintains two offices: the main office is in New York and the Office of Government Affairs is located in Washington, DC. The organization offers comprehensive and practical continuing education and training for representatives seeking to build and tweak their skill set through multi-day, semi-annual conferences. Many Commissioners of Social Security have spoken at these conferences. NOSSCR also provides a monthly member newsletter clarifying Social Security disability law and practice. Pertinent legal issues are analyzed and made accessible to practitioners at all levels of experience. The organization has a database of case law and other materials, including noteworthy hearing and judicial decisions, as well sample briefs and residual functional capacity questionnaires that can be used to guide attorneys in creating their own documents.Besides providing training to, and one-on-one support, for member attorneys and legal representatives, NOSSCR engages in systemic Social Security advocacy.
