River City Inclusive Gymnastics (RCIG) launched 2016 to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to provide group fitness and gymnastics training in a safe and positive environment where children, teens, and adults with special needs can improve social skills, motor skills, self-esteem, and mental and physical well-being. We obtained nonprofit status in November of 2018 to better achieve our mission. Current program activities include: 1) Providing a gymnastics recreation program so that individuals with disabilities are able to develop healthy lifestyle habits and build self-esteem; 2) Partnering with families to develop individualized plans for success in the program, addressing physical and social skills; 3) Working to bring in an occupational therapist in every fall and spring to work with participants and coaches around sensory integration; and 4) Implementing the Mobile Gymnastics Recreation Program to expand programming and better serve our communities.River City Inclusive Gymnastics is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (Tax ID 83-813906) that provides athletes of all ages that happen to have special needs a safe place to build muscle, coordination, and confidence while making friends and having fun. Our mission is to provide group fitness and gymnastics training in a safe and positive environment where children, teens, and adults with special needs can improve social skills, motor skills , self-esteem and overall mental and physical well-being. The athletes that make up River City Inclusive Gymnastics have a variety of challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Attention Deficit Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and various genetic disorders. As a newly minted non-profit, gaining 501(c)3 status in November 2018, RCIG is expanding its reach within the greater Richmond metro area. We currently serve athletes from Henrico, Hanover, Powhatan, Goochland and Chesterfield counties.
