Johan G. Olsen's shipbroking activities go back to 1912, when Mr. Johan G. Olsen started chartering ships in connection with his lumber export business. The Company became involved in international transactions from 1927, through the significant sale of nine Anglo Saxon Petroleum Co. (Shell from 1954) steam tankers to several local Owners on extensive credit terms against a ten year charter back. The Anglo Saxon tankers played a decisive role in the rebuilding and growth of shipping in South Norway, several of today's Owners having been formed at that time, when Mr. Olsen took significant financial interests in several of these shipowning companies, building strong ties.During the 1930s the Company focused mainly on Tanker Chartering, however Dry Cargo Chartering started to grow, and the Company became very active in the Contracting and Sale and Purchase field. As the "oil age" commenced in Norway in the 1970s, the company started its offshore shipbroking activity, concentrating on contracting, sale and purchase and chartering of offshore supply vessels, drilling rigs and other specialized ships.Today Johan G. Olsen Shipbrokers AS offers highly competitive shipbroking services in the Tanker market and the Offshore sector, servicing a wide number of shipowners, charterers and operators both in Norway and world wide.In 2006 the Pareto group bought all the shares in Johan G.
