We offer instruction in both Chung do Kwan Taekwondo and Chun Moo Kwan Hapkido. Taekwondo emphasizes striking and blocking techniques, but also employs some joint locks and throws. Hapkido is heavily focused on self-defense using joint locks, throws, grappling, and striking. It emphasizes redirection of energy rather than meeting an opponent's force with force. HistorySAMA has been located in Sturgis'​ classic Midwestern downtown district since 1997.
