HistoryFor over four generations the Melo and Matos families have been one of the largest producers of the finest organic coffee and aged tobacco in the Dominican Republic, focusing in exportation of coffee as well as supplying some of the largest fine cigar distributors and importers in the Dominican Republic with aged cured tobacco.In 2002 following the ambitious entrepreneurial drive and knowledge of both coffee and tobacco growing, H. F. Melo, a fourth generation tobacco and coffee master blender decided it was the right time to venture into the cigar export market, launching the Hispaniola Brand and Introducing it to a selective market segment. The launch served as a springboard for other cigars within the distinctive Hispaniola portfolio.MissionOur goal is to introduce the world to a piece of Hispaniola History through our exquisite and unique cigar portfolio. Delivering consumers worldwide a taste of our land, culture and folklore has and always will be a priority for the Melo Matos family.ManufacturingAfter a number of complex trials, the Master Blender at the Hispaniola manufacturing estate Villa Nisao Del Paraiso creates a unique blend for each individual cigar format. However it must also be perfectly complimented by the almost magical and unique skill of the "torcedores" – the cigar rollers. An Essence of greatness All of our cigars are carefully selected to assure that the same amount of tobacco per unit are applied; in order to achieve a consistent blend of well balanced flavors. We take pride only utilizing the finest elements in our packaging process. The finished cigars are hand packed into fine Spanish cedar wood boxes to assure the aromas, humidity and shape remains consistent.
