The small volume of material being processed at any one time allows exceptional control, accuracy and thoroughness, and the fast processing times means that large throughputs can be achieved in a small footprint. Since the sale of the first TORBED processor, a further two hundred have been sold for a range of applications across the food, mineral extraction, waste management, activated carbon, and biomass industries.TORWAVE ProcessorsLaunched in 2021, and featured in ‘The Chemical Engineer', the TORWAVE processor was engineered out of a collaboration between Torftech R&D Ltd. and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham, bringing together two groups deeply involved with process intensification. Together we have designed a system where particles are thoroughly mixed as they move rapidly through areas of well-defined and concentrated microwave energy. This unlocks ultra-rapid and controlled heating in a high temperature, reliable, and scalable processor. This offers microwave processing to industry like never before.
