Brent grew up in Burley-in-Wharfedale, West Yorkshire. His love of working wood developed early on. He was educated locally and then studied Specialist Woodworking at Hartlepool College of Technology gaining Distinctions in all subjects. He completed his apprenticeship with Treske Ltd at Thirsk, developing his cabinet making skills to the high standards he displays today. In 1985, with the help of funding from The Prince's Youth Business Trust, he established his first workshop in Bingley. After spending 10 years there creating custom-made furniture and building himself a national reputation for quality and craftsmanship, he travelled over the moor from Airedale to his home dale of Wharfedale to continue a fine tradition in wood at his present workshop in Ilkley. Choosing the right materials is all-important in making beautiful furniture that is going to be around long after we are gone. Brent firmly believes that time spent selecting the wood is as important as making the piece itself, and patience and a skilful eye are the 'foundation upon which tomorrow's antiques are crafted'. The nature of our business is to offer a special service to customers as individuals. Each piece of furniture is custom designed and made. Consequently prices vary depending on the design chosen and timber, fixings and finish selected. Brent will gladly discuss your requirements with you and provide a quotation free of charge
