Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee's Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin's leading anti-hunger organization. Mission: Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. We work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger free community tomorrow.Our food bank delivers only healthy food--absolutely free of charge--to a network of local food pantries and meal programs in Milwaukee County. Hunger Task Force is the nation's only MyPlate food bank, distributing food that meets federal nutrition guidelines. We operate a 208-acre Farm that infuses half a million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables into our food bank's supply annually. We run innovative programs like the Fresh Picks Mobile Market and a nationally-recognized summer meals program for kids. We advocate for strong federal nutrition programs including FoodShare, school meals, summer meals, WIC and senior nutrition programsMilwaukee is the second poorest city in the country, with a staggering 43% child poverty rate.
