The WOMEN-UP project is a European consortium of experts committed to an innovative breakthrough in the management and treatment of female urinary incontinence (UI). We are developing an advanced and practical system that empowers women through self-management of this chronic disease at home. A game app linked by Bluetooth to a wearable biomonitoring device gives instructions for the pelvic floor training. The performance of the exercises is remotely overseen by the therapist on a web platform connected via the Internet with the app. This ICT-based solution will include patient diaries and personal exercising protocols that will help patients to manage their training, to receive input on lifestyle interventions and to find motivation in order to follow the routine from various forms of interaction and feedback. The proposed system will decrease the frequency of patients visiting the clinic and therefore, raising the number of patients treated.
