Before 1985, before Randy Sprecher, you could not find a microbrewery in Milwaukee. Inspired by his love of European beers and entrepreneurial spirit, Randy Sprecher homebrewed for many years before attending UC-Davis and moving to Milwaukee to run the Pabst brewhouse. In 1985 he made the move to realize his long held dream and establish his own microbrewery, the first in Milwaukee since Prohibition. The beers were well received and Sprecher Brewery became a successful business. Due to building problems, in 1994 Sprecher moved from its Walkers Point location to its current location in Glendale just north of the city. The folks at Sprecher renovated a former elevator cab company to accommodate their brewing, packaging and tour operations. Stepping into Sprecher you will have a sense of the European inspiration that led to Milwaukee's most awarded craft brewery. Take a tour and you will see the reason we say our products are fire-brewed: our gas-fired brew kettle; the Bavarian mural on our packaging line, and our indoor beer garden taproom with 15+ beer taps and 9+ soda taps. Despite having won national and international beer competitions, Sprecher Brewery is perhaps best know for Sprecher Root Beer, an unbeatable treat for all ages.
