The Organization International Photography Research was founded in 1988 by art historian and curator Mirelle thijsen. IPhoR conducts iconographic research in the cultural history of photography and organizes thematic exhibitions presenting critical contemporary work by internationally renowned and young promising artists using the medium of photography. Project themes are related to visual culture, histories of labor, art history and natural sciences. Research is in particular focussed on industrial photography and how modern corporations use photography to create images of themselves. IPhoR works for museums, galleries, cultural and educational institutions, corporations and international manifestations for photography. Mirelle Thijsen is advisor in advanced photographic studies.
