Mullah Laboratories, initially called Papsmear Laboratories, was co-founded by Moonira Mullah and her husband Salim Mullah in 1997 providing Cytopathology Services throughout Africa. We are accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa and the Society of Medical Laboratory Technologist of South Africa. We have kept abreast with international technology trends and partnered with various research organizations and NGO'S to provide cytology screening services to disadvantaged communities throughout the country.In May 2015 Papsmear Laboratory partnered with Gift of the Givers Foundation to provide affordable diagnostic testing to all communities. This brought about the birth of Mullah Medical Technology Laboratories. We have an active registration with the Board of Healthcare funders and are directly re-imbursed by medical aid societies. Our services are available to both private and medical aid members at discounted rates benefiting all sectors of the community.Moonira Mullah is an HPCSA board registered CPD compliant cytology-technologist with a Baccalaureus Technologiae, [Btech degree], in Biomedical technology from the University of Johannesburg, currently completing a masters in medical technology. She is a cytology lecturer at the University of Johannesburg for second and third year undergraduate students since 2000. She has also lectured post graduate Laboratory Management at the University of Johannesburg and is currently the moderator of this subject.She has also assisted with cytology lectures for Cape Peninsula University of Technology's undergraduate students who were doing the conversion technician to technology course, based in Johannesburg.She is currently the board examiner for cytology technicians nationally.She assist the SMLTSA/HPCSA with laboratory audits for cytology labs as well as private medical technology laboratories.
