Ward Murphy joined the team as director of investor relations and Jim McCullough came onboard as a senior analyst and debt specialist. In the early- and mid- 2000s, ICG purchased several thousand apartments in a variety of partnerships, with attractive returns for investors. ICG's history traces its roots back to 1989 when Mick Halpin, Walt Smith and Mike Christian founded HSC Real Estate, an apartment management company headquartered in Seattle. As HSC grew, Pål Ottesen and Steve Davis became partners in the firm. Over time, HSC became a respected regional leader in apartment management.
