Air quality in Jakarta and the metro area has been deteriorating over the past decade. With limited access to trusted air quality sources, we decided to create nafas. At the core, nafas has a mission to educate Indonesians about the dangers of air quality on our health. This education will be done through data, by making trusted air quality data available to anybody at the click of a button. We have launched the nafas app as the main source of real-time data connected to the 100+ sensors that we have installed in Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Tangerang, South Tangerang, Depok, Yogyakarta and Bali. Based on the data collected we are looking to collaborate with universities, non-profit organizations and research organizations that would be able to utilize first-party on-ground air quality data to bring more localised research to light.
