Medicare Trust is a tax exempted and registered welfare organization based in Lahore, Pakistan, and certified by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. The Trust runs a mother and child healthcare hospital in the impoverished locality of Badami Bagh, Lahore, called 'Medicare Trust Hospital'. The Hospital provides free or highly subsidized treatment to the poor people it serves in a community of around 300,000 people. This 50 bedded state of the art hospital has played a crucial role in ensuring safe birth in an area where untrained midwives were previously delivering babies, resulting in maternal and infant mortality in a large number of cases. Thanks to Medicare Trust Hospital, around 900 to 1000 healthy babies are born every year in the community it serves, both Normal and C-Section. The Hospital also treats general ailments, and around 75000 patients are treated free or at subsidized rates in our Out Patient Department each year. Free medicines are also given to many of these patients. In addition to the medical facilities provided, Medicare Trust engages in several social welfare programs to benefit the poor: 1.
