Founded in 1972, Save-A-Pet is a non-profit, no-kill adoption center dedicated to finding loving, quality homes for each cat & dog in its care. In nearly 40 years, Save-A-Pet has successfully adopted out over 40,000 dogs and cats. In the process, Save-A-Pet successfully expanded and enriched thousands of families with the love of an adopted dog or cat. Why is Save-A-Pet so unique? There are many reasons, but one in particular says it all: As a no-kill rescue and adoption center, Save-A-Pet does not discriminate based on age, health, breed, or temperament, when deciding whether or not to save a life. Therefore, many of the 40,000 animals we've saved would not have survived all. Many families would not have experienced the love they've since shared with their pets. Save-A-Pet is proud to maintain a community of over 200 active and dedicated volunteers who help with everything: animal socialization, cleaning, fundraising, graphic design, adoption center tours, special events, grant writing, and more. It would be nearly impossible to operate such a large facility, and afford to save as many lives as possible, without the ongoing dedication of our amazing volunteers. Save-A-Pet also offers two year-round youth volunteer programs for the junior high and high school age groups, as well as a week-long summer camp about animal rescue, guest speaker programs for schools, and more.
