HELP Bolivia Foundation is a registered Canadian charity based in Alberta, Canada. We provide health, education, and nutrition programs to children attending the Tahuantinsuyo Community Centre in the city of El Alto. 100% of donations go to the programs in Bolivia, as two of the founders have chosen to cover all HELP Bolivia Foundation's administration expenses for 2021. The Tahuantinsuyo (Ta- huan- tin sue- yo) Community Centre is located in a rough district of El Alto where children often find themselves at risk of falling into a cycle of gangs and abuse. Children attend only half a day of school in Bolivia, so the Community Centre is a safe environment for them to spend the rest of the day. Educators teach extra curriculum subjects, help with homework, and provide counselling for children who are/were in domestic violence and/or sexual abuse situations. Children range in age from 3 to 18. Families are referred to the Centre by schools and community leaders, and are either in situations of domestic violence, face issues of abandonment, have learning disabilities, or have parents out of work or away. Most of the families have migrated from the countryside, in search of a better life for their children. The families are required to pay a token admission for our programs. Most parents are very poor and unable to help their children with homework. Almost all are Aymara, one of the indigenous groups in Bolivia, and speak primarily the Aymara language. They want to break the cycle of violence and poverty, and seek a better life for their children.
