Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organizations (SEAMEO), comprises twenty centres since its establishment in 1965, aims to improve the quality of life of the people in Southeast Asia region through education, health, arts and culture, agriculture as well as technology. Pertaining to education, SEAMEO focuses on three fields, namely science, mathematics and language. The fast-growth of technology influences the changing of paradigm in education including language education. SEAMEO, in this matter, tries to assist education practitioners and personnel in enhancing their quality to cope with the new paradigm. Therefore, on 13 July 2009, a new regional Centre for SEAMEO was launched. The new Centre commits in improving the quality of teachers and education personnel in language education. Hence, it is called SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Language.SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Language (the Centre) was formally established on 27 January 2010 during the 45th SEAMEO Council Conference in Cebu, the Philippines. The Centre aims at enhancing the quality of Indonesian, Arabic, Chinese, German, and Japanese language teachers.
