Border Collie Rescue, founded in 1990, grew out of the need to find adoptive homes for the ever-increasing number of unwanted or improperly placed Border Collies. Border Collie Rescue is comprised entirely of volunteers that assist in the rescue and placement of Border Collies throughout the United States and Canada. Border Collie Rescue participates in nationwide placement of dogs, shipping them to homes in other parts of the country. Additionally, a great deal of BCR's efforts is directed at educating the public about the breed and the difficulties of living with a herding dog, particularly through our extremely large website. BCR's goal is to avoid Border Collies ever ending up in rescue by educating people that are considering the acquisition of one of these dogs. Border Collie Rescue also works with families that already own a Border Collie, particularly on behavioral management and activities that can help redirect some of the dogs' high-level energy.
