Theatre Technician and Usher at Monkey Baa Theatre Company - , New South Wales, Australia
Monkey Baa is Australia's widest-reaching theatre company for young people. For over two decades, we have empowered young people through theatre. We care deeply about connecting young people with meaningful art and this is evidenced by the fact that we tour to many communities that better-resourced theatre companies do not.In 22 years, we have conducted 28 national tours to 135 regional and remote communities across every state and territory of Australia, four international tours, with over 2,500 performances, engaging with 1.5 million young people. For 7 years, our Sydney venue has showcased the best theatre for young people from companies around Australia and overseas. Our VisionTo make theatre an intrinsic part of young people's lives.Young audiences desire and deserve the same dexterity, depth and rigour in that theatre experience, as is demanded by adult audiences. Monkey Baa's artistry lies in our collaborative practice. Our award-winning productions which tour regionally, nationally and internationally, emerge from a confluence of exciting artists in a playful creative development space. Crucial to our practice is the collaboration with young people aged 7-12 from the earliest stages of the development. Their involvement as co-creators in each production is paramount in ensuring their voices resonate deeply in the work.As a Not For Profit, Monkey Baa relies on the wonderful support of the community and our philanthropic partners. Just 10% of our operational and creative development funding comes from government support. By supporting Monkey Baa, you are helping to inspire and delight young people for years to come; inviting them to question and challenge their values, expectations and understanding of the world, and their place within it.
