Breathe Global was born early in the COVID-19 pandemic when our founders witnessed the need that patients had for assistance with breathing while they fought the virus. At the same time, hospitals around the world were forced to make difficult choices while facing ventilator's shortages and high costs. We assembled a team of doctors, inventors, builders, and hardware and software experts, and set to work trying to design and build safe, inexpensive, easy-to-use, negative-pressure assisted breathing devices that could be worn without limiting the user's everyday activities. We, in fact, developed two breathing assistive devices--one that's an inexpensive, open-source breathing assistive device called the RAD DIY distributed in the form of a do-it-yourself instruction manual and code and another, that's also inexpensive, called the RAD 1.0 that we manufacture that has many advanced features including Internet of Things capabilities.
