Founded in 1991, Nurture Nature Foundation (NNF) is dedicated to resolving the intensifying conflict between the critical goals of environmental protection and economic development. Over the years, it has helped found and sustain many programs and organizations devoted to that purpose, including among other Nurture New York's Nature Foundation (now a program of NNF), the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities, and the Kheel Center on Resolution of Environmental Interest Disputes at Pace Law School. In recent years, NNF has focused its resources on urban transit reform and urban sustainability. In the transit arena, NNF has supported seminal work devoted to fostering a balanced transportation system in cities, with a particular emphasis on New York City. As part of its urban sustainability program, NNF established a "Nurture Nature Center" in Easton Pennsylvania, which serves as a forum for community dialog about environmental issues in the region, and has also developed nationally recognized tools for helping communities understand and address flood risks.
