Board of Directors, Chief Operating Officer and Head Coach at Kids Play USA Foundation - Laurel, MD, US
Kids Play USA Foundation is a national, charitable organization based in Maryland that was formed to remove the financial barriers to participation in youth sports. Every child has a right to play sports, but as with professional and collegiate sports in America, youth sports have become all too commercial. The expense of organized youth sports often includes fees, equipment, uniforms and travel - which is beyond the means of many children and families. Kids Play USA is dedicated to fixing this problem. Our Founder, Darryl Hill, a history-making collegiate football athlete, and visionary business man, founded Kids Play USA Foundation to address the various challenges that prevent youth from being able to participate in youth sports in today's society. In 2012, the country will honor to Darryl for his 50th Anniversary of being the FIRST black football player at the Univ. of Maryland and in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). KPU strives to heighten public awareness of the importance and benefits of youth sports and champion increased public support for youth sports programs and facilities. This will be accomplished by working with youth sports organizations, community programs, local governments and schools to make participation in sports available and affordable for all children. KPU will help to remove these financial barriers through advocacy as well as financial and equipment assistance for low income families so that their children may play organized youth sports.
