The government of Hungary established the Office for National Economic Planning (ONEP) on December 1, 2011. The organisation is a central office directly reporting to the Minister for National Economy as a background institution. At the time of the inception of the office, the team of experts partly consisted of former employees of VATI Non-profit Ltd. Consequently, the Office has inherited the Hungarian development policy and continues to carry the torch, of the strategic mission of the territorial and regional development of recent decades.The current main tasks of the Office:In 2013, the Office took on several important tasks in connection with the 2014-2020 planning. The institution actively participated in the tasks related to the drafting of the Partnership Agreement that serves as a basis for Hungary's future development programmes financed by the EU. Furthermore, the office was involved in the preparation of three operational programmes for which the Ministry for National Economy is responsible: the EDIOP (Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme), the TOP (Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme) and the CCHOP (Competitive Central Hungary Operational Programme).The tasks of ONEP includes:- Revision of the National Spatial Development Concept and National Development Policy Concept;- Supporting the preparation of the Partnership Agreement for 2014-2020;- Providing professional support for the launch of the planning for the 2014-2020 financial period at county and regional level;- Coordination and management of the preparation of the TOP for 2014-2020;- Supporting the planning and coordination tasks of the EDIOP for 2014-2020;- Supporting the planning and coordination tasks of the CCHOP for 2014-2020;- Participation in the planning regarding programming and preparation of the ETC for 2014-2020.
